Day1
On day 1, we meet in Sousalito in the San Francisco Bay. We will begin our safety meeting at 730 am and plan on leaving Sousalito at 745 AM. We want to get an early start to cover as much riding time as possible. Be sure to have filled your fuel tank prior to arrival.
We will leave Sousalito and travel into the Marin Headlands to explore the abandoned tunnels and bunkers, in the Golden Gate Nationl Recreation Area. After stopping at some key points there and briefly seeing the emplacements, our twisties await our arrival.
We will continue to make our way towards Highway 1. The views that you will see along this route after reaching our key way points will amaze you. Rolling hills and vistas offer up scenic beauty and ever twisting roads offer up riders delight. At this point it feels like you are in another state; A state of bliss as pastoral Marin County offers us a glimpse of what it might be like to live somewhere else.
After reaching Highway 1 we will head North and turn towards the coast to explore the Point Reyes National Seashore. After reaching our way point we will explore Pierce Point Ranch and take a minute to try and locate a sighting of the many Tule Elk in the area.
Are you still smiling? Heading to the area from Highway 1 and back gets your blood pumping on this old goaty road lined with working dairy farms that have been designated as national historic preserves. After reaching the 1, we again head north. At the highlight of our day we will stop for lunch and recall our morning. Amazing food and beautiful sights from our table await. Hungry for more? Well you don’t have to wait long.
After lunch we will head north again following the California coast. You will quickly realize why so many hunger for this road. Delicious twisty roads with straights and hair pin turns, along with a majestic view of the Northern California coast await, and delight your senses.
Our route will take us past Point Arena lighthouse. Not to fear we factored that in also, but later in the tour. We will wind through each turn grinning from ear to ear and arrive in Fort Bragg for the night. Settling in for the night we will grab our hotels rooms and then grab some dinner together and marvel in the day and the memories it has already bestowed upon us. Its been a long day, but no matter how tired you are you will still be smiling.
Day 2
All kidding aside today part of the tour is going to rock your world. OK, imagine all of the twsties that you have ridden, and now try and combine them all together into a tapestry of turns and adventure. That’s how our entire day will be. Are you still smiling?
After having breakfast we will agin head north along the coast and then begin riding one of the twistyest roads in California. Over 372 corners in 24 miles or so I am told. If that doesn’t get you pumped I don’t know what will. This road is prime and glassy smooth and delivers unparralled riding. You will wonder why you haven’t ridden this road before.
Reaching the end of this road we will head north and travel through the Avenue of The Giants. We will have a biref stop here but we are saving the exploration of these mighty trees for later. Saving the best for last? Well yes we are. But before that you are in for the ultimate riding treat; Highway 36.
After riding several high speed sweeper turns we will begin our journey across the ultimate motorcycle road. Before you know it you will be entering Highway 36, the mecca of all motorcycle roads. Climbing up heading east we will ride this twisty delight. We will climb and twist and make our way towards the Hayfork Junction. And after as many twists as possible in the road find ourselves in Weaverville.
In Weaverville we will take some time to explore some of the local Gold Rush history before sitting down for an amazing lunch. Good food, and good people, having the best of times. That’s what its all about. After lunch our adventure continues to explore and check out the majestic beauty of the Trinity Alps., and the Trinity River Canyon. After a brief detour on one of the most scenic roads in California we will continue to ride the Trinity Alps, passing again through Weaverville and make our way towards the coast through the Trinity National Forest. Turn by turn and twist by twist we will make our way to the coast, grinning like kids on Christmas day.
After reaching the coast we will turn south and end our day after reaching Fortuna. Many early evening riding possibilities present themselves as we ride past Humboldt Bay. But one thing will remain on your mind well into the night; the amazing roads that you just had the pleaure of riding your motorcycle on.
And after settling in for the night the we once again find ourselves sharing stories and good times, at the Eel River Brewing Company. As we we head back to our hotel and close out our night, you will be anticipating the next days ride. And oh yes, you are in for a treat!!
Leaving Fortuna we will head south and ride through The Avenue Of The Giants. Now for many who have not experienced this treat you will be in awe of the stunning beauty of the trees and their size. We will take a relaxed pace through this area so that you can take in all of the sotes and sounds. Stopping in the middle of this are we will take a break and explore the Founders Grove. And once you have captured your senses, we will head south and out of the Avenue Of The Giants.
When we first rode from Fort Bragg north, you were already calculating the days until you could return to ride this same stretch of road. Well why wait? Cause we are headed back to Fort Bragg. Oh yes, time to get your twisty on. Set your music to loud on your Ipod, rock the throttle (just a bit ) and enjoy this fascinating stretch of road again.
We will fuel up in Fort Bragg and make our way south to Point Arena Lighthouse. Taking time there we will explore the lighthouse and offer you a chance to see the small museum there as well. And although climbing the stairs to reach the top of the lighthouse may be challenging the view is amazing at the top. And after you have captured the beauty of the California coast from a birds-eye-view we are ready to head south again.
After carving our way south again, we have many options to reach our ending destination. We usually decide on this route on the fly. And no matter what the route we will have an amazing lunch and finish out the day riding the best motorcycle roads that California has to offer.
This is our ride. This is our journey. This is what makes riding in California a dream to others. We are privledged to live here and ride here. And we would be honered to take yu to these amazing places.
